2010 Ninja 250R Throttle Hesitation. I've got a Ninja 250R (Carb) with nearly 3k on the clock and when it's warmed up to temperature and I give it a bit of a poke on the throttle, it tends to hesitate/stumble before revving up. Over 3000rpm it's fine with no gaps in throttle and the bike runs/rides perfectly. It's just that first take-off.
In your detective work of finding your carburetors problem, consider the (needle valve or float valve) as your starting point. This needle valve meters your fuel entering the carburetor bowl. If it is defective, the bowl will either over flow or not allow enough fuel into the bowl. Some of our customers think it's a jetting problem.
The mixture screw is located inside that cylindrical tube. Sometimes there is a plug in the end of the tube as well but most of the older carbs didn't have it. You'll have to get a mirror to tell whether your carb has it or not. If it does, flip the carb over and drill a small hole in that plug (1/16").
Long story short, my girlfriend bought herself an '06 Ninja 250R. Wasn't running, needed a jump start and a carb cleaning, plus fresh gas and plugs. Bike jumps up and runs fine, idles fine, revs just fine. The problem is when releasing the throttle, the motor returns to idle very slowly.
Background (since I've got no ideas). - Bike was bought in "poor" running condition. Didn't have any desire to idle, and made a ton of valvetrain noise. - Initial top speed, est. 20mph (pick a gear, you aren't going any faster - 5k rpm tops) - Battery, plugs, air filter, oil and oil filter
This brass screw was compared to an old carb he had from a two cylinder 450 cc Honda motor. The one on the 450 had a metal knob that would not allow more than 1/4 turn of adjustment. The one on Lucy's was just a bare brass screw, someone had obviously broken off the metal knob. At his suggestion I promptly screwed in in to approximately where
